A building at the heart of Winchcombe with roots deep in local soil

In the heart of Winchcombe, where golden Cotswold stone meets centuries of quiet history, stands a building that has been gathering people together for longer than most of us can remember. For over 200 years, a single grapevine has grown in our garden room, its roots deep in the local soil, its branches spreading across the glass roof above, as unhurried and steadfast as the town itself.

The Wine Rooms isn't one thing, and it was never meant to be. By day, it's a sun-drenched sanctuary: fresh coffee, homemade pastries, and the kind of morning that makes you slow down. As the afternoon light softens and the candles are lit, it becomes something else entirely: intimate, warm, and alive with the hum of good conversation and chink of wine glasses.

The Wine Rooms, a collection of spaces, each with its own character — a cosy corner for two, a walled garden for a group, the garden room with its extraordinary vine arching overhead. Our boards overflow with local cheeses, artisan charcuterie, and crusty breads, sourced from brilliant Cotswolds producers who share our love of doing things properly. The wines are chosen with the same care: guided by flavour and story, not price tag or prestige.

Meet Rob

The Wine Rooms opened its doors in 2026 under the ownership of Rob, who took on the building, and the custodianship of that ancient vine, with enormous pride. A Dutchman by birth, he's thrown himself wholeheartedly into life in Winchcombe with his family, and is honoured to call this remarkable town home.

Rob's path to The Wine Rooms was anything but straight and that's exactly what makes this place feel the way it does. After walking away from the corporate world eight years ago, he spent years doing what he loved most: feeding people, welcoming strangers, and building communities around good food and drink.

From running his own food truck at festivals to owning a Dutch pancake café, from running a local deli to now opening The Wine Rooms, every chapter has shaped his simple but powerful belief that hospitality, done well, changes how people feel.

Rob is joined by a brilliant team of local people all dedicated to making The Wine Rooms the kind of place you come back to, again and again, for all of life's moments big and small. We've built on the wonderful foundations laid by previous owners before us, and feel the weight of that legacy warmly.

We've traded the "fancy" for the "fabulous," and the "stiff" for the "sociable." This is our home, and you are our guest.

Come for the wine. Stay for the warmth. Become part of the story our 200-year-old vine is still writing.

"Everyone is welcome at the table, whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or someone who simply knows what they like."
